Boat Rentals in Orange Beach?

Postby bluesguitarguy » Wed Jul 08, 2009 11:18 pm

I have been lurking around this site for about a year, and finally decided to join. I live around Birmingham, and have been fishing the Gulf Shores area from the surf and the backwaters for about 15 years. The question I have is: Does anyone know if there is a place that rents boats not a canoe or kayak, but a motorized boat for three or four people. I have an AL boating license, and access to a friends boat, but it's just a PIA to tow a boat all the way down there.

I looked this up on internet search so I do not know the people..They rent different types of boats.

I hope this helps.

Yeah, Thanks that helps! I looked online earlier and only found a place that rents pontoon boats. It always seems like the fish are just beyond my casting range. :)

I know the feeling...Nothing like watching a school of blues tear up the water just out of reach while you sit there and sweat in the hot sun.

Then if the fish do move closer to shore you can bet the boats will park 50ft from the beach just so you cany cast...No laws against it either....I've been through enough crap with boaters to drive a person crazy...I just try to fish around the crazy folks.

I stayed with a friend outside of Birmingham once for about 3 months in Cordova/Jasper....After I got my butt back south of interstate 10 I stayed there.
I guess being born and raised around the Gulf I just never felt at home in that area and some of the folks there were a little strange to me. I found some good bass and catfish spots up there and have long since forgot them now but to find them was a way of keeping from going nuts until I got back home...I guess folks from Birmingham look at the Gulf Shores area in the same way as I look at that area...Its nice to visit but its nicer to be home.

You on the east or west side?....What about those Hoover Bucs?....Roll Tide or War Eagle? :D

Yeah, I'm not much on freshwater fishing; it's too predictable. Jasper is close to the Warrior river and Smith Lake (popular for the Rainbow Trout stocked below the Dam, and the Stripe Bass in the deep water). I live on the Eastern side of Birmingham, and yes there are some weird people up here ;) . Although I live here now, and have been living here, I intend to move closer to the coast after my wife graduates from UAB in a couple more years. I have a cousin who moved to Foley a couple years ago, and seems to really enjoy living 10 mins from the bay, and being able to go fishing 3-5X a week. I'm soo jealous!

Oh, I don't really follow HS football, but have friends who have kids on Homewood's team, so...Go Patriots!

And War Eagle FTW!

Those Homewood boys kicked some butt in the playoffs a year or two ago....I know a guy from Jefferson Co. that moved south of Foley a few yrs ago...I dont think its the same guy though......His name isnt Eric is it?.

Good luck on the fishing..i hope you get into them so thick that you have to leave them biting then complain about sore arms. :) ....I hope to be moving back home to Baldwin Co. in the next couple of months...This Tampa area is terrible...Too much of everything,,especially rude folks.

No, not Eric. LOL. I know my way around the Tampa area a little (Have a Grandmother who lives in Sarasota). They have some nice scenery, but I would not want to live there. I know a person who moved to Tampa last December (Harbor Island?) he seems to like it, but he's a city boy.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'll prob be on here from time to time ( I could talk fishing all day), and I intend to make trips to Orange Beach in Aug, Oct, and Jan.

I like talking that fishing stuff myself...I usually get on yahoo voice chat with a few folks from time to time and talk fishing and fishing gear until late at night...I'll do that until I get back home to where fishing means catching.

Heres a little slideshow I put together from stuff I've caught and places I've been over the past few years...Nevermind the music if you dont like it...If it starts spuddering while playing just pause it and let it load for a few then let it play....This usually get me fired up and homesick at the same time.

That's pretty cool, I've never caught a Jack Crevalle that big off the shore. Watching that gave me a hankerin for some blackened redfish

I'll have to try that. I've also wanted to try it grilled.
