Fort Morgan Fishing

Postby greg » Fri Sep 10, 2010 3:21 am

Its set in stone now for all of us beach bound surf fishers..."NO MORE NIGHT FISHING AT THE FORT"....This will eliminate alot of shark fishing and definitely kill and flounder gigging hopes unless you have a boat to gig from....Marine Resources Division called me back today with the frustrating info....The way I understand it there is some federal and some state property around the fort near the water and all is closed to night fishing.....Marine resources can write criminal trespassing tickets to folks caught on state or fort morgan property and the Wildlife refuge officers will enforce the law on the other areas.....There are new signs up on the beach that mark the federal areas.

You "can" fish the pier!!

PS...Dont try to steal or damage the signs...These guys are hiding in the sand dunes and brush waiting.

One more note....The federal guys are pretty arrogant and ruthless...They will come at you from the dark and turn your truck upside down to try to get a ticket on you...Search and seizure is there goal no matter what you say.

Does the regulation on no night fishing apply to privately owned vacation rental units near Fort. Morgan? I will be staying with my family at the Martinique on the Gulf which is out near Fort Morgan. Is night fishing on their beach property allowed?

You should be ok around privately owned areas....The wildlife refuge folks are the ones closing the refuge areas for night fishing.
